Move on over potato, asparagus is moving in on the “fry” territory! Best part, there is no slicing or peeling involved with asparagus.
This recipe is so simple our Chef actually lost interest about half way through. He prefers more challenging culinary adventures (preferably with kitchen gadgets), but sometimes you just need an easy recipe to create a quick snack or tasty side dish.
- 1 bunch of asparagus
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon Dairyfree milk
- deep fryer with canola oil or use deep frying pan
Let’s be honest, asparagus is an odd looking vegetable but our Chef likes to try new foods so we thought we’d give it a try. Start by washing the asparagus. Break eggs, add milk and beat together with a fork. Dip asparagus in egg mixture. Then coat in breadcrumbs. This is about the time our toddler Chef lost interest in this recipe. (Could also have something to do with the part where I wouldn’t let him eat the raw egg)Carson decided to break out the big equipment to get this dish done. When oil is hot, add asparagus and fry for 3-5 mins. Asparagus will be crisp and crunchy. Enjoy the asparagus fries as an appetizer, side dish or meal. Well this is about as close to the fries as the Chef came. Better luck next time! Enjoy!
